Offsetsrf Failure On Complex Polysurface

ProjectCurve is not implemented for Surface. This method is only available for PolySurface. Other than that it isn't required. The code has to keep track of sets of 30-50 disconnected surfaces. Being a polysurface doesn't matter, but calls to ProjectCurve, if implemented on surface, would grow exponentially. I'm trying to speed up design and fabrication of complex forms using plywood and MDF sheet. I've found that both the Rhino command Grasshopper components for OffsetSrf frequently fail to produce good results. Specifically, with polysurfaces with only planar faces, when the polysurface has a combination of triangular and ngon faces and/or a combination of convex and concave edges, the.

Offsetsrf Failure On Complex Polysurface Definition

Hi Dani, Create setup wizards logo.

the topology of the result precludes it being made from a single Nurbs surface. You're going to have to figure out how to deal with either multiple surfaces or you'll have to define a single coordinate space that can handle tears and cuts. Neither is particularly easy.

Thank you David!

Thats what i imagined.. :(

Offsetsrf Failure On Complex Polysurface In Rhino

I will have to deal with multiple surfaces, thank you very much anyway!

Just a quick note..the typical way to populate a surface is to 'map' objects to the surface using UV points or subSurface divisions..this method is the most obvious and causes abrupt changes at the boundaries between surfaces.

However, with creative Projection techniques you can overcome these problems for a whole new set of problems that are often easier and more intuitive to solve.
